Description
A beautiful antique, mid 17th century, oak settle with castle carving to the top rail, panelled seat backs and wooden seat. Lovely shaped and carved side arms. The wooden seat has been added historically to replace the original roped and cushion seat. The original rope holes can be seen around the seat frame and such a seat base replaced if desired. The condition is good for the age with signs of use around the leg bases. Two very old iron angle brackets are in place under the seat frame and rear legs to strengthen the settle.
