1987 Ford Fiesta Mk2 L – 2.0L Duratec ST170 Engine, FIA Roll Cage, Fresh Yellow Respray, V5 Present

This 1987 Ford Fiesta is a unique and heartfelt project car with a story behind it. Originally a standard 1.1L Fiesta, it has undergone a major transformation into what was set to be an exciting rally build. Most of the hard work has already been completed, including the fitting of a 2.0L Duratec engine from a 2004 Ford ST170, a reconditioned gearbox built from an ST170 unit and a Series One RS Turbo Limited Slip Differential, and new FIA-approved suspension, springs, coilovers, and brakes.

The car has also been fitted with an FIA-approved roll cage and received a vibrant full respray in yellow in 2023, giving it a fresh and striking presence. Structurally, the shell is solid and the bodywork presents very well, showing only light age-related marks beneath the new finish.

The project was started by a passionate car enthusiast and father to Zak, the current owner. Sadly, Zak’s father passed away in July 2023. Though Zak had hoped to complete the build as a tribute, it has become too much to take on alone. The car therefore represents more than just a project – it is a labour of love waiting for someone with the time, skill, and enthusiasm to bring it to life.

Electrically, the car still needs completing and is not currently roadworthy, but the main mechanical work is in place and several additional parts are included to support the completion, along with an extra set of wheels.

With its combination of rarity, emotional story, and performance potential, this Mk2 Fiesta offers a brilliant opportunity for the next owner to carry the baton forward. Whether for classic rally use, track days, or restoration to show standard, it is an increasingly hard-to-find model with quality upgrades already in place.
