The 4th generation Ford Escort XR3i featured the injected 1600cc CVH engine and a number of updates over the MK3. This example was a last year limited edition with metallic blue over silver two tone paint work which is very much of its time. It appears to have been originally supplied by Chipping Sodbury Motor Co and looks to have been in the Bristol area most of its life. It entered a private collection in 2002 and has been dry stored until now and never used on the public road. A trusted local garage has undertaken sympathetic recommissioning of the car to make it suitable for the road again although it needed very little. Being dry stored it does not appear to have ever had any welding at all and the underseal looks factory. The old fuel was drained new fuel pump fitted and fresh fuel put in the tank. Coolant system drained flushed and new radiator mounted. Cambelt Water pump aux belts spark plugs and filters have also been replaced. The brakes were also overhauled with new discs pads shoes and cylinders. It has also had a fresh set of tyres. As a result of the mechanical work the car drives really well runs smooth and the gearbox does exactly what it should. The electric roof is in great condition works very smoothly as do the windows. The interior is in excellent order with just some minor bolster wear on the drivers side. The car comes with two sets of keys and has just had a fresh MOT ready for sale. Currently the car has its V5C and receipts from the light restoration with a couple of olds MOTs. However the car has come to us from a deceased estate so we will struggle to find the older history for the car and pass it on to the new owner. The original mud flaps are also included in the sale. The only aftermarket parts are the Radio and speakers in the parcel shelf.  WE BELIEVE THE CAR WAS IMPORTED IN 1991, PROBABLY FROM IRELAND.
