Description
Lovely antique heavy cast iron fire back dated 1650 with an armorial coat of arms.
This measures approx 29" wide, 22" high, 1" thick and is VERY HEAVY!
Highly decorative piece with a central crest then above that a helmet and a phoenix.
Nicely shaped top and raised edge border. Really attractive design - would add period character to any fireplace.
I believe this to be a 19th Century copy of a 17th Century original - it is well cast from quality iron and is in excellent condition for its age.
Comes as seen - could use a wirebrush and a lick of fire black. Some dirt and surface rust, but no damage that I'm aware of.
