Service Technician - Diesel Generators

Colchester UK & European Travel 35,000 - 40,000 + Overtime

Are you electrically or mechanically biased, but keen to develop your skills across both disciplines?

If so, this could be an excellent opportunity to join a growing business operating within the critical power and power generation sector.

Our client is looking for a motivated Service Technician to join their expanding team. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone with either an electrical or mechanical background who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving and working directly with customers.

You'll be working on diesel generators ranging from 30kVA to 220kVA, supporting customers across the UK and Europe, with the opportunity to get involved in installations, commissioning and offshore projects.

The Role

As a Service Technician, you'll be responsible for keeping customers' power generation equipment operating safely and reliably.

Your responsibilities will include:

Servicing, maintaining and inspecting diesel generators from 30kVA to 220kVADiagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faultsCarrying out preventative and reactive maintenanceSupporting installation, commissioning and operational activitiesAttending customer sites across the UK and EuropeTravelling internationally and working away from home when requiredSupporting offshore projects where requiredProviding a professional and customer-focused service on siteCompleting service reports and maintaining accurate documentationWorking safely and consistently to company and industry standardsDeveloping your knowledge across both electrical and mechanical systems

What We're Looking For

We're interested in people with a strong electrical or mechanical engineering background who are keen to broaden their technical skill set.

Ideally, you'll have:

Experience working with diesel generators / generator setsA strong electrical or mechanical engineering backgroundExperience with fault-finding, diagnostics and repairsThe ability and willingness to develop your skills in the other disciplineA full UK driving licenceA proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solvingThe confidence to work independently at customer sitesGood communication and customer service skillsFlexibility to travel throughout the UK and internationallyThe ability to work away from home, sometimes at short noticeGenerator experience is highly desirable, but we're also interested in technically strong electrical or mechanical engineers who are keen to specialise in power generation and be fully supported with further training.

Salary, Overtime & Development

Up to 35,000 for an experienced Service TechnicianUp to 40,000 for candidates with previous managerial / supervisory experienceOvertime available to significantly boost your earningsOngoing technical training and developmentSupport towards additional qualifications and certificationsExposure to a wide range of equipment and technical projectsUK, European and offshore travel opportunitiesLong-term career progression within a growing business
