Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer with electronic and mechanical operational experience to join our client s well-established and growing team.

This role combines quality expertise with customer & supplier development, making it ideal for a pragmatic, solutions-driven professional who thrives on embedding quality culture within a growing organization. You will provide clear leadership for the development of a business environment focused on Quality, developing Quality Management systems (including: ISO9001 / ISO14001 / ISO 45001) Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Controls Plans, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) processes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead quality initiatives and drive continuous improvement across all manufacturing operations, from supplier management through to customer delivery. Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality documentation that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct quality audits, manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality issues. Manage supplier quality performance, including supplier audits and liaison to ensure incoming products meet specifications and compliance standards. Monitor and improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), particularly Parts Per Million (PPM) and defect rates, to meet customer requirements and business targets. Liaise with customers, production teams and senior management to interpret quality requirements, communicate findings and deliver compliant solutions. Support the maintenance and development of ISO 9001 certification, ensuring the business meets all regulatory obligations. Identify gaps in current processes and quality standards, then challenge and mentor the team to adopt best practices and drive cultural change. Attend production meetings, customer audits and technical reviews as necessary to represent quality interests and resolve issues. Maintain accurate quality records, reports and audit trails to demonstrate compliance and provide evidence for regulatory and customer requirements. Requirements

Essential:

Minimum 3 years quality engineering experience in electronics and/or mechanical manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of ISO 9001 standard, with experience of maintaining quality management systems. Proficient in quality systems, non-conformance reporting and process improvement methodologies. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage proactively and effectively with internal teams, suppliers and customers. Proactive problem-solving mindset with a focus on identifying issues and implementing practical remedies. Ability to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly quality and compliance requirements. Desirable:

Understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, with experience of implementation and maintenance. Experience or knowledge of compliance standards e.g. ESG, Reach, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, Prop 65, PFAS and TSCA restrictions. Certified Quality professional qualification. Experience in automotive, off-highway, or electro-mechanical manufacturing environments. Knowledge of health and safety compliance and environmental management systems. Experience with PPM (parts per million) metrics and customer audit requirements. Familiarity with electronics assembly, PCB manufacturing or mechanical assembly processes. Experience implementing ISO certifications from inception through to audit readiness. Degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent technical qualification (or equivalent professional experience).
