Description

Mechanical Maintenance Technician Location: Wytch Farm, Dorset

Shift Pattern: 4 x 10.5-hour shifts, 06:45-17:15, rotating Monday/Tuesday start

The Opportunity A leading international energy company is looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join its maintenance team at Wytch Farm, Dorset.

The business is a major operator in the UK energy sector, with operations spanning oil and gas exploration, production and energy infrastructure. This is an opportunity to join an established operational site and play a key role in maintaining the reliability, safety and efficiency of critical production equipment.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and operational support across a range of mechanical equipment and systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance on:Pumps, compressors, combustion engines, fin fans and gearboxesHydraulic and pneumatic systemsPiping systems, valves, filters and PSVsAssociated lubrication, sealing, fuel, air and water systemsDiagnose faults and identify equipment reliability issues.Participate in failure investigations and implement improvements.Raise work requests and maintenance documentation.Develop and review maintenance and operational procedures.Support project, commissioning and modification activities.Work with vendors and subcontractors when required.Raise and manage permits in line with site procedures.Attend daily operations meetings and provide maintenance updates.Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards and procedures.Maintain high HSE standards and actively contribute to a strong safety culture.Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, efficiency and availability while reducing costs.Comply with Management of Change (MOC) requirements for plant modifications.Key RequirementsRecognised apprenticeship in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline.HNC or equivalent engineering qualification preferred.Full UK driving licence.Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.Good knowledge of rotating machinery and associated mechanical equipment.Previous experience within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy or a similar process environment.Experience working with maintenance programmes and planned maintenance systems.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Good communication and IT skills.Strong commitment to HSE and safe working practices.Ideal Background The ideal candidate will be an experienced mechanical maintenance professional with a strong hands-on background in process, energy, oil & gas or petrochemical environments, particularly around rotating equipment, pumps, compressors and associated mechanical systems.

Experience working on an operational production site would be highly advantageous.
