Locomotive Fitter Leeds Perm Position

GBP47,147 per year

Shift working - (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off)

You will have a fantastic opportunity to work for an organisation maintaining a wide variety of different rolling stock including freight wagons and locomotives.

Your New Opportunity

Carry out general mechanical maintenance and repairs to all rolling stock rail vehicles on a variety of components such as air braking, hydraulic systems & diesel engines.Fault diagnosis and rectification on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.Working to written maintenance instructions (VMI) to complete examinations and inspections of the trains you will be working with.Working to engineering drawings and diagrams. You will have previous experience in a similar role and environmentYou will ideally have experience carrying out maintenance and examination work in a heavy mechanical environment, ie ex forces REME, HGV, buses and coaches, aircraft, or big engineering machines or maybe even locomotives or rolling stock alreadyAnyone with Locomotive experience is especially welcome to applyYou will be a team player with the experience to work independently a problem solver with an aptitude to think on your feet and carry out a wide range of maintenanceYou will be ok working shifts earlies, lates and nightsYou must be able to pass a medical and drug and alcohol test Essential Criteria

Experience in maintenance and fault finding within a transport / plant related engineering environment Must have a Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, in an engineering / mechanical / electrical discipline.Ability to navigate engineering drawings, blueprints, and diagrams, written technical instructions and manuals and follow processes.Full UK driving licence or locality to the depot is essential.You must be able to pass a DBS criminal record check to be eligible for this role Salary

GBP47,147

You will have the opportunity to learn who to drive and shunt trains an extra GBP1,000 per annum.

Up to 6 training modules each worth an extra GBP1,500 per annum giving you the potential earnings of GBP50,000k plus

These training modules to increase your salary include Shunter training and engineering modules from axle and bearings, electrical fault finding & Mentoring.
