MERITUS are recruiting for a Site Technician to join our client in a permanent position to support upcoming energy projects across the green and nuclear sectors.

SITE TECHNICIAN - NEG - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC - STONE, STAFFORDSHIRE - 2 STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

Role Summary

As part of the Energy team, the Site Technician will be responsible for the on-site assembly and wiring of electrical protection and control systems used in transmission, distribution, and power generation projects.

The role includes conducting electrical safety testing on modifications prior to commissioning and supporting project delivery across various UK sites. Regular travel and flexibility are essential, along with a strong technical skillset.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble and wire electrical protection and control systems using technical drawings and specificationsInstall and terminate cables, including multicore, copper, and fibre optic typesCarry out mechanical assembly of enclosures, frameworks, and cable containment systemsPerform electrical testing (e.g. continuity, insulation resistance, point-to-point checks, and functional testing)Work with site teams to ensure materials, deliverables, and quality standards are metIdentify, report, and help resolve technical issues in collaboration with engineering teams

Essential Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience in a site-based electrical or wiring roleExperience with electrical, control, and instrumentation (EC&I) installations (e.g. substations or similar environments)Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, wiring schedules, and technical drawingsWillingness to travel and work at various UK locationsFull UK driving licence

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

Experience with mechanical assembly (e.g. enclosures, cable containment systems)Relevant apprenticeship or vocational trainingIndustry certifications (e.g. site safety, electrical regulations, access equipment, or high-voltage environments)Knowledge of safe isolation procedures and working in controlled environments
