Description

CAD Technician Your drawings will help turn complex bridge designs into infrastructure that can be safely built, inspected and maintained.

You will bring clarity to technically demanding projects by producing accurate, practical drawings that engineers, contractors and clients can rely on. Your understanding of structural detailing will help identify design issues early, improve coordination and reduce the risk of problems reaching construction.

This is an opportunity to use your CAD expertise on bridge and structural schemes across the UK, with potential exposure to international projects. You will also influence how the wider team works by sharing good practice, supporting developing technicians and helping improve drawing quality and consistency.

About the Opportunity

Jacobs is looking for a CAD Technician to join its UK Bridges team and support the delivery of bridge and structural engineering projects.

You will work alongside engineers and other technical specialists to translate design information into accurate 2D and 3D drawings. The role offers more than drawing production. You will contribute to technical problem-solving, improve how information is managed and help maintain the quality standards on which successful infrastructure delivery depends.

Success will mean producing clear, buildable and well-controlled drawings, becoming a trusted technical contributor and continuing to broaden your capability across bridge detailing, digital design and project delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

Produce and update accurate 2D and 3D drawings for bridge and structural engineering projects.

Turn engineering concepts and design information into clear, practical construction details.

Work with engineers and other project specialists to resolve coordination and detailing issues.

Check drawings for accuracy, completeness, buildability and compliance with the relevant project standards.

Maintain effective revision control, drawing registers and records of design changes.

Apply consistent CAD standards, including file structures, layering and naming conventions.

Contribute to steelwork and reinforcement detailing where relevant to the project.

Share good practice and provide practical support to less experienced CAD technicians.

Help the team improve its use of CAD tools, digital workflows and quality processes. Strong practical experience using AutoCAD to produce detailed engineering drawings.

Experience supporting bridge, civil or structural engineering projects.

An understanding of structural detailing and how drawings are used during design and construction.

The ability to interpret engineering information and identify gaps, inconsistencies or potential detailing issues.

A consistent approach to drawing quality, document control and revision management.

The confidence to work collaboratively with engineers and other technical colleagues.

The ability to plan your workload and deliver accurate work to agreed project deadlines.
