Description

Ducati 748 Biposto – 1999 – 9,300 miles – £6,000

1999 Ducati 748 BP, currently converted to a mono-seat setup.

9,300 miles. MOT until 05/11/2026. £6,000.

Located on the Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall (TR12).

Selling my 1999 Ducati 748 Biposto. I bought this bike after looking at quite a few 748s, and ultimately bought it because of the way this particular bike rode and felt. It has proved to be an extremely strong, enjoyable bike during my ownership.

It has now covered 9,300 miles and recently completed a 600-mile, two-day ride without missing a beat or requiring any oil or coolant. The engine pulls very strongly throughout the rev range, sounds tight with no unusual noises, and has that absolutely fantastic Ducati induction roar as the revs rise.

Mechanical
• 9,300 miles
• Cambelts replaced approximately 1,000 miles ago
• Engine runs very strongly throughout the rev range
• No unusual engine noises
• No metallic residue found in the oil, filter or strainer
• Recently completed a 600-mile / 2-day trip faultlessly
• No oil or coolant consumption during that trip
• Internal fuel tank hoses updated for modern fuels
• MOT until 05/11/2026
• HPI clear
• No accident history
• No outstanding finance
• V5 present and registered in my name

Wheels & brakes
The original gold Brembo three-spoke wheels are in excellent condition.
This is the less common version with the embossed "Ducati Racing" and Cagiva Elephant markings.

Exhaust
Fitted with Ducati Performance carbon exhausts.
They're very loud — exactly as you'd expect from an old Ducati with a proper set of carbon cans. Not one for someone looking for a quiet Sunday morning bike!

Other upgrades
• DucaBike black/carbon clutch pressure plate
• DucaBike clutch springs and caps
• Oberon clutch slave cylinder
• Braided brake/clutch lines
• R&G tank grips
• Tail tidy
• Oxford micro indicators
• Moto Gadget grips
• Bar-end mirror
• R&G rear stand included
The original tail tidy, indicators and mirrors are included.

Carbon fibre extras
A good selection of carbon fitted, including:
• Swingarm cover
• Chain guard
• Clutch cover
• Rear mudguard
• Front mudguard
• Radiator surround
• Heel plates
• Heat shields
The rear mudguard has the usual small hole/wear mark.

Condition / honesty about the bike
This isn't being advertised as a concours example, and £6,000 reflects the condition and history.
The fairings have some marks from before I bought the bike, including some lacquer peel and a crack. Replacement aftermarket fairings are readily available if someone wants to take it in that direction.
There is also some surface rust in areas of the frame. This could be addressed relatively easily with some wet-and-dry and paint, but I've deliberately left it alone as I don't believe the result would justify the time and expense involved.

The service book is missing. I have the invoices/bills and previous MOT certificates, but I'm not going to pretend it has a fully stamped service history when it doesn't.
Personally, I would rather buy a bike based on its current mechanical condition and how it actually rides than a book full of stamps. Having viewed several 748s before buying this one, the way this bike rode and felt gave me confidence in it — and the 600-mile trip has reinforced that.

Viewing / test rides
Viewing welcome and encouraged.
No test rides unless cash is in hand / funds are confirmed in the bank and the rider is fully insured to ride the bike.

I'm happy for a serious buyer to inspect the bike properly and take their time looking over it.
£6,000

Located TR12 – Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall.

No swaps or ridiculous offers, please. This is priced with the cosmetic condition and missing service book in mind.

A genuine, mechanically strong 9,300-mile 748 with some nice period/enthusiast upgrades, a usable classic.
