Double Bass - EBERHARD MEINEL full size w pickup, bag & stand - excellent condition - £2795ono

Description

This is an amazing Eberhard Meinel full size 4/4 modern German double bass. Market value is probably around £3750-4500 (see photos for comparisons).

It has a fantastic shape and plays really well and sounds wonderful and gives plenty of sustain. The instrument includes an underwood pickup.

The bass has gamba corners and I believe that it is a wide grain spruce top with very lightly flamed maple back and also the sides. It has simple thin purfling around the edges. Please see the photos for best description and viewing is recommended.

If has a two-piece back. The length of back from button to end pin approx 110cm. The overall length is 190cm.

This instrument is perfect for Classical as well as Jazz, Country, Latin, Folk, Rockabilly and maybe more.

I am selling the instrument with a rare modern soft brown faux leather zipped case (value £275). It will also come with a modern Hercules double bass stand (value £60). I do also have some double bass books and sheet music which I will include if the full price is paid. The books are valued at about £120. Alternatively I can sell them separately for £70.

The label states that this instrument was crafted under the guidance of the master Eberhard Meinel in the master work sites of 'Musima' in Markneukirchen. The label also reads in English “Made in Germany Democratic Republic”. This suggests that the instrument was made prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall or the date of German reunification on 3 October 1990. Markneukirchen is a former East German city about 3 miles from the Czech border.
