SOMERSET – LIVE-IN HOUSEKEEPER

Country-loving, experienced Live-in Housekeeper sought by private family for their formal, part-time residence in Somerset, comprising a six-bedroom main residence and guest accommodation. The family are typically in residence for one weekend each month, 1–2 weeks during the summer, 7–10 days over Easter and during the half-term holidays. Working alongside the Groundsman, the Housekeeper will take responsibility for maintaining the interiors and guest accommodation to an exceptionally high standard, ensuring the property is always beautifully presented and ready for the family's arrival.

Duties will include all high-standard housekeeping, laundry and ironing, linen and wardrobe care, bed changing and presentation, care of fine furnishings and valuable household items, household organisation, stock management, shopping and errands. The Housekeeper should be confident preparing breakfast and simple family lunches and dinners, as well as assisting with table setting, food preparation and service when the family are entertaining.

The family are looking for a proactive, discreet and highly organised Housekeeper with an excellent eye for detail who takes genuine pride in their work and can anticipate what needs doing without constant direction. Previous experience within a formal HNW/UHNW private household or similarly high-standard residence is essential, together with excellent checkable references.

The estate is home to two well-behaved dogs who are permanent residents, so applicants must be genuinely dog-friendly and happy to assist with their day-to-day care. When the family are in residence, they also bring their two small mixed-breed dogs.

Core working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm, together with two weekends per month included (in which time off in lieu during the week will be provided). Flexibility will be required around the family's periods in residence, entertaining and holidays, with time off in lieu where applicable.

Approximately 3–4 weeks' travel each year to the family's European residence will also be required. A full UK driving licence is preferred, enabling the Housekeeper to get out and about independently; however, this is not essential as the Groundsman can assist with lifts. Applicants should be non-smokers.

Salary £40,000–£55,000 gross per annum, depending on experience.

A private one-bedroom cottage on the estate is provided with all bills included. Regret no pets or dependants.
