URGENT Home Needed for 1 year old Female Staffordshire Bull Terrior

Description

This is Pepper, she is an approximately 14 months old Staffy. I rescued Pepper from a tenant from one of the services under my company after she was removed from an unsafe home by a Housing Officer. I took her in because she needed somewhere urgently but unfortunately I can’t give this girl what she needs.

Pepper needs someone who is home most of the time and has the patience to build up time left alone because she suffers with really bad separation anxiety. Unfortunately I work full time so I am gone for 8 hours a day and there’s nothing I can do to change that so she is left alone a lot. This has become distressing for her and she is not happy here. She has displayed some destructive behaviours because of the stress and I am in a rented property so I can’t keep her any more. The only time she displays destructive behaviours is when she’s left alone for too long.

The person I rescued her from claims she is 1 but only had her for 3 months, her background has been rough. Until she came home with me she had only lived in ‘crackdens’, and I can only describe her as feral when I first got her. It has taken me a couple of months to teach her boundaries, basic training and how to play 🥺 she is still very reactive and has a long way to go with leash training as she’d never been on a lead/walked at all prior to me getting her. She was/is terrified of everything because she had never been in a normal house before.

She just needs someone with time and patience and a lot of reassurance. She really can be the sweetest girl, and I think she’d make a really wonderful family dog. She adores people, but even just someone who is home more would be better for her. She can’t live with another dog or with cats as she has displayed aggression. I think this reactivity is due to a lack of exposure, and a lack of socialisation but I believe she would do well after some training and socialisation. She wants to please, she can be so sweet and soft, she gives the best cuddles. I wish there was a way to make it work but I need to do what’s best for her hence me looking for a special home for this girl. She has been fine around small children but I think she’d benefit from older kids in the home so she has plenty of people to play with.

Preferably someone who knows the breed as she is quite a typical Staffy when she’s happy.

I’m hoping to find her somewhere myself instead of taking her to a rescue because I don’t think she would cope in that environment at all. Asking for a small fee to prevent wrong sort applying.

Happy to provide harness, lead, bed, toys and whatever food/treats I have left.
