Description

Bailey needs a special home. This is already his 2nd home, unfortunately a break up means I can no longer care for him. He needs someone who is not faint hearted, who isn't afraid to work with him and give him the time he needs. His biggest problem is that he wasn't well socialised due to covid, so he became fear reactive. He is reactive to 3 out of 4 dogs we encounter on a daily walk. He is only let off lead in a contained area or dog park that is secure and where you can see all surroundings. He will charge at dogs and therefore wears a muzzle.
He is workable though! He has made several lady friends over the years and some male friends who are less bouncy and generally just ignore him. He did have a lovely female friend who we holidayed with every year, he sometimes needs putting in his place and she did this very well. He is becoming less reactive as he is getting older. We had had him since 9 months old. That was around October 2021. I do believe with some patients and the right handler he will be less reactive. Bailey is better to be homed with older kids only 12 plus and careful introduction due to an incident where he did bite someone when we first got him, clearly this was fear and reaction. Bailey needs relaxed people around him as he likes to chill a lot. He also loves to get in the water at every opportunity even during winter. I do tend to stop him doing that as much during winter. He is fed on chicken and could probably do with losing a pound of two. He isn't food orientated on walks and will generally just ignore anything asked of him even if you have chicken treats. I walk him on lead most of the time. Interested party will have to walk Bailey with me for several weeks or as long as it takes for you to understand his needs and to see if you are good match.
