Description
agnar is a 9 year old male American Akita looking for the right home. He's in Ingleby Barwick, Stockton-on-Tees.
Please read this before enquiring.
Ragnar struggles with being left alone. Recently he attempted to get out of an upstairs window while I was out, and he has caused damage in the house after being alone for as little as an hour. This is new behaviour and appears to be separation-related distress. I've started him on calming supplements to see if they help.
He needs a home where someone is around most of the time, and someone willing to get him properly assessed by a vet and work through this with him. Separation anxiety does respond well to treatment, but it takes commitment.
The rest of him:
Brilliant with children and good with other dogs. Not suited to a home with cats. Nine years old, male, not neutered, microchipped. No other known health issues.
Away from the anxiety he's a good, loyal, affectionate dog who's brilliant with people he knows.
Who he needs:
Someone experienced with Akitas or large guarding breeds. Someone home most of the day, at least while he settles. Secure house and garden. No cats. Willing to get him vet-checked and follow through.
Not a first-time dog, and not one for someone out at work all day.
Happy for you to meet him and talk it all through properly. Pet home only, not for breeding.
