Description

Our public sector client are looking for Interim Transactional Finance Team Manager to join them on a temporary basis.

Location - Hybrid working - ideally 2 day per week in the office (Coalville) Flexible working hours

Pay Rate - £25ph/£28ph

Job Purpose:

Lead and continuously improve the Council’s transactional finance functions—including Income & Banking, Debtors, Creditors, Procure to Pay, Suspense Accounts, and Reconciliation. Ensure efficient, compliant, and customer-focused services that meet performance standards, support financial integrity, and contribute to the Council’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide strong leadership to the transactional finance team, promoting a high-performance, collaborative culture.

* Manage and optimise end-to-end financial processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

* Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial transactions in line with reporting and statutory deadlines.

* Develop and maintain clear, efficient procedures and internal controls.

* Monitor KPIs and performance targets, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

* Build financial capability across the organisation through training, guidance, and support.

* Lead service improvement projects and contribute to organisational development initiatives.

* Ensure robust governance and high standards of financial transparency and accountability.

Managerial Responsibilities:

* Recruit, develop, and manage staff performance in line with Council policies.

* Foster a culture of customer service, accountability, and continuous improvement.

* Represent the finance team in cross-functional projects and with external stakeholders.

* Promote health and safety, equality, and inclusion in all aspects of the role
