A leading UK infrastructure services provider is delivering major improvements to a key strategic transport structure in Scotland. With a strong track record in highways, civil engineering, and asset management, the organisation is recognised for delivering complex refurbishment projects that enhance network resilience while minimising disruption to road users.

Your new role

This position will be long term and you will work as a Works Manager. You will take full responsibility for the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of operational works on a major live infrastructure project. Reporting to the Site Agent, you will oversee daily construction activities, managing site teams, subcontractors, and resources to ensure programme milestones are achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading site operations, ensuring works are delivered in line with programme, budget, and quality expectationsManaging and coordinating subcontractors, direct labour, and plant resourcesDriving a strong health, safety, and environmental culture, ensuring full compliance with HSQE standardsReviewing and implementing method statements, risk assessments, and permits to workMonitoring progress and reporting on performance, identifying and mitigating risksLiaising closely with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to maintain strong working relationshipsSupporting the commercial team through accurate reporting of progress, variations, and resource usageEnsuring minimal disruption within a live traffic environment through effective planning and coordination

What you'll need to succeed

Proven experience in a Works Manager or Site Manager role within highways, bridges, or structural refurbishment projectsStrong background working on complex, live infrastructure environmentsExcellent knowledge of health & safety regulations and industry best practicesStrong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teamsExperience managing subcontractors and overseeing programme deliveryRelevant qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold Card), and First AidA proactive, solutions-driven approach with strong organisational skills
