Welfare Officer

Location: Whitechapel

Salary: up to 34,000pa plus London Weighting

Job Type: Full–time, Permanent: 40 hours per week – working a shift pattern including some nights and weekends based on a 6 week shift pattern

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for Welfare Officers to join our client at their Whitechapel site. This is an excellent opportunity to join an independent organisation that delivers accommodation services across the UK, supporting both central and local government, as well as the charitable sector.

As a Welfare Officer, you will play a key role in providing direct advice, support, and safeguarding to Service Users (SUs) residing in temporary accommodation. You will manage an assigned caseload, ensuring welfare standards are maintained while working in line with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Provide guidance and signposting to external services such as healthcare providers, shops, and support agenciesConduct regular welfare checks and site visits, reporting incidents, issues, and abscondersEnsure Service Users are moved on within required timeframesArrange transport and relocation of Service Users where requiredMaintain accurate records and ensure systems are up to dateManage a portfolio of accommodation properties and hotel placementsCarry out monthly inspections and report maintenance issuesEnsure properties meet health and safety standards at all timesCoordinate and carry out minor repairs where necessaryManage property inventory and ensure items are repaired or replaced as neededSupport effective void and property management through recommendations to managementBenefits
