Maintenance Operative

Permanent, full time

We are recruiting a Maintenance Operative to support the day to day running of a high quality residential building in Manchester.

This is a varied, hands on position suited to somebody with a strong general maintenance / Handyman background who takes pride in keeping buildings safe, presentable and working properly for residents.

You will be the main maintenance presence within the building, responding to repair requests, completing planned checks and resolving issues efficiently. Larger or more specialist works will be supported by a regional technical team and external contractors.

The role will include:

Completing general repairs across plumbing, joinery, basic electrical work, fixtures and fittingsResponding to maintenance requests raised by residents and the site teamCarrying out planned building checks and preventative maintenanceDiagnosing faults and completing first time repairs wherever possibleEscalating specialist or larger works to the regional technical teamCoordinating with contractors attending the buildingMaintaining accurate records of completed works and outstanding actionsEnsuring all work is completed safely and with minimal disruption to residents We are looking for somebody who has:

Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, residential or building services positionPractical experience across a range of general repairsA professional and approachable manner when dealing with residentsGood fault finding and problem solving skillsThe ability to manage their own workload and prioritise urgent repairsA strong understanding of health and safetyA reliable and proactive approach Experience within hotels, residential property, care settings, student accommodation or facilities management is essential.

This is not purely a back of house maintenance role. You will be working within a busy residential environment, so communication and customer service are just as important as practical ability.
