General Maintenance & Facilities Assistant

Covering 6 locations across Oxfordshire

Up to £28,000 including £2,000 car allowance

Make a real difference every dayAre you a practical, hands-on person who takes pride in keeping buildings safe, welcoming and well maintained?

We’re looking for a Maintenance & Facilities Assistant to join our team, supporting six independent living locations across Oxfordshire. This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same — from carrying out minor repairs and preventative maintenance to inspecting estates and helping create comfortable, well-presented spaces for residents.

You’ll work closely with Scheme Managers, Housing and Facilities colleagues, as well as residents and contractors, making sure issues are dealt with promptly and standards remain high.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being out and about, solving problems and seeing the immediate impact of their work.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.

What you’ll be doing:

Carry out a range of minor repairs across communal areas and residents’ properties.

Complete planned and preventative maintenance to keep buildings in excellent condition.

Carry out regular estate and building inspections, identifying issues and taking action where appropriate.

Help maintain attractive, clean and safe communal areas, including some external cleaning.

Manage and prioritise repair requests to ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.

Arrange or escalate more complex repairs to the relevant contractors or specialist teams.

Work alongside Scheme Managers to coordinate maintenance and respond to local needs.

Keep residents updated on repairs, progress and expected timescales.

Identify and report Health & Safety concerns and potential hazards.

Complete monthly estate inspections and maintain clear records of findings.

Look after maintenance tools and equipment, reporting any defects or issues.

Keep accurate records of completed repairs, inspections and maintenance activity.

Provide a friendly, professional and reliable service to residents at all times.What we’re looking forYou’ll ideally have experience in general building maintenance, property repairs or facilities support, with practical knowledge across areas such as:

Basic plumbing

Carpentry

Decorating

General property maintenance

Health & Safety within residential or facilities environmentsYou’ll also need to be organised and confident managing your own workload across multiple locations, while communicating effectively with residents, colleagues and contractors.

Experience using handheld devices or maintenance management systems would be an advantage, and COSHH knowledge is desirable.

Essential: Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
