Description

One of my local government clients is seeking an experienced and proactive Housing Officer to manage a patch of approximately 500 properties. This role is essential in ensuring effective tenancy management, rent monitoring, neighbourhood inspections and high–quality service to residents. A driving licence and use of a vehicle are required due to the need to visit properties across the district at short notice.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor rent accounts, visit tenants regarding arrears and issue appropriate letters

Attend court hearings, arrears panels and evictions when required

Manage tenancy–related matters including successions, assignments and abandoned property investigations

Advertise available properties, review shortlists, conduct viewings and complete sign–ups

Undertake around 20 tenancy audits and 10 block inspections per month, ensuring appropriate follow–up

Participate in resident involvement activities, including occasional evening meetings

Respond promptly to requests to attend properties or locations on the same day

Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance and effective service delivery

Requirements:

Previous experience as a Housing Officer or similar role in social housing

Strong knowledge of rent management, tenancy law and neighbourhood housing issues

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently
