The successful candidate will ensure the school premises are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Opening and securing school buildings and grounds. Carrying out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic decorating tasks. Conducting regular health and safety checks across the site. Monitoring site security and responding to alarms where required. Setting up rooms and facilities for school events, assemblies, and meetings. Managing waste disposal and ensuring external areas are kept clean and tidy. Liaising with contractors and supporting planned maintenance activities. Reporting defects, hazards, and maintenance issues promptly. Assisting with compliance checks, including fire safety and emergency procedures. Requirements

Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, maintenance, or site operative role. Basic maintenance skills across building fabric, carpentry, plumbing, and decorating. Understanding of health and safety procedures within a public or educational environment. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently. Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one) is essential. Ability to be flexible with working hours when required. Desirable

Experience working within a school, college, or educational setting. Knowledge of legionella monitoring, fire safety checks, and site compliance requirements. Relevant maintenance or facilities qualifications. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands–on individual who takes pride in maintaining safe and well–presented facilities while supporting the smooth operation of a school environment.
