Antique French Marble & Bronze Mantel Clock 🕰️

Description

Beautiful and substantial antique French mechanical mantel clock, believed to date from the late 19th century, c.1875–1895.

* Heavy yellow/golden veined marble case, with ornate bronze metal mounts
* White enamel dial with Roman numerals
* Traditional mechanical movement
* Traditional bell-striking mechanism
* Two winding points for the clock and striking mechanism (unfortunately I lost the winding key, but it is easy to find a new one)
* Hinged glass front (beautiful original convex crystal) and rear (movement visible from the back)
* Handwritten French maker/workshop inscription inside the case, appearing to include the name “Picard” (attribution not authenticated)
* In good working order
* The clock would benefit from some TLC/restoration, particularly one of the decorative feet, which has broken off and needs to be reattached
* Attractive original aged patina and general age-related wear
* Extremely solid and heavy construction
* Dimensions: 35cm H × 30cm W × 12cm D
* Ideal for a mantelpiece, fireplace or collector, hobbyist
