Personal Assistant / Care Assistant – SE London (SE12)

£18.34 per hour minimum | 30 hours per week | PAYE Employee

Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–2:30 pm | Immediate Start

I am looking for a reliable, experienced, kind, happy and considerate Personal Assistant/Carer who lives within approximately 45 minutes of SE12 and can start immediately.

I am a C4 quadriplegic, use an electric wheelchair and use non-invasive ventilation 24 hours a day. I require physical assistance with my morning routine, but I direct my own care and believe strongly in maintaining my independence through verbal direction and choice.

Main Duties

Support with non-invasive ventilation Personal care and morning routine Overhead hoist transfers between bed, shower chair, toilet and wheelchair Showering and dressing Bowel management, including suppositories and manual evacuation Daily household cleaning and maintaining a clean and hygienic home environment – essential Preparing lunch and basic food preparation Other practical assistance when required Experience & Personal Qualities

You must have some previous experience supporting someone who uses a ventilator.

You must have good moving and handling experience, including previous experience using an overhead hoist.

You must be physically able to safely carry out the moving, handling, personal care and household duties required by the role.

Experience with bowel management is preferred, with training provided where needed.

I am looking for someone kind, happy, considerate and respectful, and comfortable taking verbal direction while supporting me to remain in control of my own daily life and care.

Live-in Working Arrangements – Essential

You must be able to work 3 weeks of live-in cover over Christmas and New Year.

The position includes approximately 6 weeks of live-in work each year.

During live-in periods, you will stay in my home. The main care routine takes place in the morning. After this, I am largely independent, although you will need to be available to provide agreed assistance when required.

Live-in periods are paid separately from the normal 30-hour working week. Payment will be based on the agreed working hours and live-in arrangement and will be discussed and agreed in advance.

The live-in commitment is essential to the position.
