Permanent Live In Carer Post in a Rural Location on the North Coast of Scotland.

My brother in law, who is 50 year old, lives with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism. He needs 24 hour support to live his life doing the things he enjoys, doing the things he needs to do and being part of family life.

Family life can be busy. Although my brother in law has his own place, he lives on the same piece of land as us, where we also run a small campsite and cafe so there is always something going on, which my brother in law thoroughly enjoys being part of.

Due to autism, routine in how he is supported is important, and we need people who will take on how he needs to be supported and follow his routines.

If you are:

energetic and adaptable,
willing to be trained in how to support him,
fun and up for a laugh,
able to be firm but fair,
able to support and promote independence (encourage to do, not do for),

then we want to hear from you.

My brother in law enjoys spending time in the hot tub and swimming, throwing plastic balls at people, playing with toys, getting out and about for walks, and generally having fun. Although he has no verbal communication, he is very expressive!

Driver essential, yes really essential, due to location. My brother in law has a vehicle which carers drive (manual).

There are varying levels of support, from full hands on to supervision and prompting, with all aspects of personal care, meals and medication involved, and we, the family and existing care team, will give you full training in everything you need to know about my brother in law to support him in the right way so he can have the life he deserves.

Experience is not important – we are looking for the right person and personality, experienced or not, a good level of spoken English is required for communication.

Rota is a 2 weeks on 2 week off - this is an exsiting rota which cannot be changed.

£1450 per week (self employed) including travel, rising on successful completion of a 2 week trial to £1700. Food allowance also provided.
