Carer / Helping Hand Wanted – Wandsworth (SW18)

I’m looking for a kind, reliable and experienced person to provide some additional support for my 94-year-old uncle at home, and to give me some regular help as his main family carer.

My uncle is an older gentleman who wishes to remain living in his own home. Following a recent hospital stay, he now needs a little more support with day-to-day life.

The role may include:

• Companionship and keeping him company

• Helping him move safely around the home

• Preparing a drink or simple meal

• Light household help and tidying

• Sitting with him while I go to the gym, run errands or have some time out

• Personal care, including help with washing/bathing if required

• Generally being an extra pair of capable and caring hands

At present I'm looking for a few to several hours per week, potentially including some shorter visits of around an hour. There may be scope for the hours to increase depending on how things develop.

Experience supporting older people is strongly preferred. You should be patient, dependable, comfortable with personal care and genuinely enjoy spending time with older people.

An enhanced DBS check, references and relevant care experience would be ideal.

My uncle would particularly welcome a mature/retired female carer, although finding the right person is most important.

Location: Wandsworth, SW18

Hours: Flexible – to be agreed

Pay: To be agreed depending on experience

This is a private family arrangement rather than an agency position. We are hoping to find someone local who could become a familiar and trusted presence rather than simply providing occasional cover.
