Observations and general details for information

The bodyshell is a genuine 'D Reg' first registered on 3rd April 1987, VIN plate from the OS inner wheel arch is present, currently on SORN with V5c registered in my name.

The Park Lane was one of the limited edition ‘London Collection’ others being the ‘Mayfair’, ‘Piccadilly’, ‘Chelsea’, ‘Ritz’ and Knightsbridge. The Park Lane, based on the Mini City from 1987, was produced in Black with Beige/Black velour seating and a production run amounting to 4000 vehicles of which 1500 were destined for the UK market, the rest presumably for overseas.

According to ‘How Many Left’ in Q1 of 2023 there were 24 ‘Park Lane’ models licensed and 172 on SORN in the UK – a total of 196. Therefore this vehicle will always be relatively rare as part of the Mini heritage and well worth the time taken to restore to its former condition.

The car is offered as shown in the images, currently a bare Bodyshell on a pallet. Some images show the Bodyshell on one of my rotisseries (which is NOT included). .

In terms of condition, this Bodyshell has previously benefitted from professional repairs using new panels having been taken off the road by a former Mini enthusiast owner, after which it was dispatched to have the bodywork professionally restored some time after the last road tax expired in 2015.

The owner having paid a significant amount for the work, became frustrated by the protracted timescale and lack of progress, recovered the car and it sat in dry storage for some years.

This Bodyshell, in my opinion, represents a good starting point for a usable restoration, the shell and the repairs already completed and those now required to complete are clear to see. There is evidence of a number of replacement panels having been fitted (still with makers labels attached) but some of the work has not been 'finished' particularly well ie welding not dressed or seam sealed.

Further work is now clearly required to this Bodyshell but as this has not been started, a ‘new owner’ can undertake the refurbishment to their own desired standard, timescale and budget.

The single Bodyshell as shown is offered with V5c and VIN Plate, there are NO OTHER parts included in this advertisement.

Remember this Bodyshell is a restoration project

This, in my opinion, would make a decent road car, it has great potential, ideal as a Winter restoration project and being a genuine Park Lane will always be a more attractive model to own.
