VINTAGE SCANDINAVIAN BLONDE WOOD CANDLE BOX, SALT BOX, SALT CELLAR, SCRATCH BUILT - 1970s SCANDI KITCHENALIA - NO CANDLES INCLUDED - REDUCED!

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

Part of our collection of kitchenalia we got this from a Vide Grenier at Guise in the Aisne region, the owners were a Swedish family who said a relative had scratch built it from pieces of blonde hardwood in the 1970s and used it to store candles, which we also did.
It’s a wall mountable hand carved wooden storage box originally used as a candle storage box but also usable as a Salt Box, Salt Pig, Cellar.
Retro in style with a mid century look, it has a hinged lid and varnished surfaces that are now worn and but still sound with a nice patina.
This is still functional as a storage box, candle box or salt box and also makes a great decorative piece of Scandi kitchenalia.

In good vintage condition with some wear and staining - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
This takes the smaller taper size candles or votives.
Clean and sound, it has had a wash and coat of clear wax.
Quite heavy and naive in construction, I think by nail and screw, with some crooked cuts and rough edges but structurally very sound.
The hinged lid opens and closes as it should and can be loosened or tightened using the screws either side.
The back has a hanging hole for wall mounting or it is also freestanding.
The interior is in used but sound condition - see photos.
I can find no maker’s mark.
NO CANDLES INCLUDED.
