Description
2001 Mazda Bongo Friendee 8 seater MPV / campervan for sale.
MOT runs till December 2026.
3 or 4 berth (fits 2 downstairs and 1 - 2 upstairs depending on the size of the people). Slept 2 adults 2 children comfortably for us. Comes with a fold up foam mattress to fit the folded down rear seats (please see photos).
Automatic, great fun to drive, like a big go-kart. Petrol, (Mazdas from this era needs 95 RON / E5). Not ULEZ compliant.
Factory fitted electric pop top, electric blinds at rear sides, comes with stick on thermal blinds for front and back windows. Electric windows and mirrors. Power steering.
Tow bar with electric for trailer lights (never used so I don't know if this works).
Comes with Fiamma Carry 4 bike rack fitted. Tailgate struts have been uprated to cope with the extra weight of the bike rack, still have the originals, there's nothing wrong with them, they can come with the van if you want them in case you want to take the bike rack off.
Full service history including from Japan (Japanese manuals too!)
Central locking - aftermarket Cobra alarm and immobiliser (blipper locks and arms)
Will come with a spare key and spare Cobra blipper, but I could not work out how to pair the spare blipper. I have manuals for the Cobra immobiliser, the answer must be in there somewhere.
Sony MEX-N7300BD stereo fitted with DAB, FM, Bluetooth, USB, CD. Front and rear speakers all sound great.
As you can see from the photos there is very little rust on this van - I had the rear wheel arches replaced a couple of years ago, which is the most common problem on Bongos. This van has been regularly undersealed as well to keep it clean underneath.
Sadly air conditioning doesn't work, but heating does, although there is no heating in the back.
Overall the van is in really good condition for it's age, reflecting it's low mileage. There are some chips on the bonnet and wee scratches around the body work as you'd expect, it's a 25 year old van.
There is a small rip in the ceiling liner on the hatch, you can see in the photos.
Weirdly it has a flip up TV and DVD player (between driver and passenger seat). I have no idea if this works, never tried. If it did I'd expect NTSC TV and Japanese region DVD though, so probably not much use here.
We've outgrown it and bought a bigger van hence the sale but have had a lot of fun over the last 5 years using this van as a family camper and daily ride. It's 4.6m long so it's not hard to drive and park in town.
Bongos are really good value, you get a lot of van for the money, besides being a great basic campervan, you could also use it as a MPV, ferry a bunch of people and bikes to the hills, or just use as a van and move a lot of stuff with seats all down (or even taken out).
Mileage is 92739 at the time of photos and posting, but I'll still be driving it so may be slightly higher.
Open to sensible offers.
