*No scammers please. I will not respond to anyone asking me to conduct HPI checks via dubious looking websites etc.*
Our much-loved and 100% reliable LWB high top VW T5.1 Trendline “Bluey” is reluctantly up for sale as our kids are too big now. This lovely, extremely practical van has given us many happy and trouble-free family trips to West Wales, SE England and Spain. It’s has been an absolute pleasure to own this camper over the past five years and we’re very sad to see her go but hoping to find a good new owner as she’s got many more years left. It’s an incredibly well thought-out and well done conversion, completed to a high spec with nothing left out – everything you need for fun family camping experiences in luxury and comfort!
It's a 4/5-berth 2014 Volkswagen T5.1 Transporter T32 Trendline 140 TDi. 4 belted seats.
Cruise control. Air conditioning. Extremely rare edition in that it’s both a long wheelbase and also has the original factory-fitted high-top.
149,590 miles on the clock but very well looked after and sensibly driven. Serviced ever year with stamps in the book / receipts to prove it. Cambelt, water pump and tensioner were last changed at 113,862 miles, so not needed for another 44,000 (they recommend an 80,000 mile interval). We intended to keep this van forever, so we’ve always taken good care of it, as did the previous owner.
Two-tone candy white/light blue. Bodywork in great condition apart from small rear bumper ding (see pic). Rock and roll bed with two belted seats. Converts between bed and seats in seconds. The reason it’s described as 4/5 berth is that the rock and roll bed is good for two people, the roof bed is good for two small kids, and there’s a folding wooden board that fits across the front seats to provide a solid base for a cot mattress, providing an additional bed for a child (our 7 year old loves it).
Two-burner Dometic gas hob and sink unit with hinged tempered glass covers. The hobs are fed from a gas tank in the cupboard under the fridge and the tap is pump-fed from removable, wheeled Reimo tank (included) under the bed. Drains through external pipe into grey water tank (included). The Reimo freshwater tank has a huge 50 litre capacity and yet hardly seems to take up any room due to its long, narrow design. Can be hose-filled in-situ or removed and wheeled to a tap. Regularly sterilised and good to go.
Fully lined and incredibly well insulated both thermally and acoustically. You can camp in freezing conditions in a noisy environment and feel like you’re in a quiet, warm cocoon! You only actually need the diesel heater on for a short time when it’s very cold out.
Numerous well-placed, individually switched, adjustable angle LED lights dotted about wherever you need them.
Dometic double-glazed windows throughout, with integrated, insulated blackout blinds and flyscreens. All but one of the windows are top-hinged so you can have them open in the rain without water ingress. The other window (next to the nearside rear seat) is a slider, so it doesn’t obstruct the sliding door, and also can be opened whilst on the road. Dometic top-opener window on roof, also with integrated, insulated blackout blind and flyscreen. Thermal blackout blinds for windscreen and cab windows, with insulated lining and suction cup fittings for quick and easy attachment. Durable polyester blackout cover for the exterior of the cab, fitting over windscreen and side windows, fastens around wing mirrors to further block out light and improve insulation. Commercial grade hard wearing flooring.
3070mm Stitches + Steel Multirail. Can be used to attach awnings/canopies directly, or with a driveaway kit so you can leave the awning in situ whilst go go off and explore. Includes an Easy Camp Voss canopy which is a simple and quick lightweight shelter – takes a couple of minutes to erect and packs away to the size of an umbrella.
Extending roof bed can be pushed all the way back to give headroom in the living area, or extended forwards as a bed, or to provide a huge amount of storage space. Unlike a pop-top, this big storage space is available whilst driving, and also unlike a pop-top, it’s nice and warm and quiet up there as it’s properly insulated and you don’t have fabric flapping in the wind.
Good sized top-loading Dometic compressor fridge/freezer. Low noise / high quality – thermostatically controlled and has low/medium/high power modes for use depending on whether you’re off-grid for a long/short time, or driving/hooked-up.
Additional hinged tabletop/worktop next to fridge (very handy for food prep), plus slide-out tabletop that tucks neatly away under the worktop next to offside rear seat.
Fiamma aluminium table with removable leg. All with matching grey carbon-fibre effect veneer. The Fiamma table stows away neatly in secure and easily accessible slot above rear seats. These three tables, combined with the swivelling passenger’s captain seat make a great dining setup! The captain’s seat also has a lockable steel security safe hidden underneath. Kitchen has two good-sized drawers under worktop, two high-level cupboards above fridge, three large rear cupboards, two rear cupboards and a high level storage shelf above sliding door with retaining panel to keep items accessible/secure. Also rear storage compartments accessible via rear barn doors.
Loads of storage space above driver/passenger seats. Even more storage space behind rock and roll bed – accessible from both rear doors and by lifting hinged seats. I can’t emphasise enough how much storage there is in this van. We’ve been away for a fortnight with enough clothes, food and drinks for four people, plus a kayak, two surfboards, two bodyboards, four wetsuits, four bikes, toys and all of our clothes.
The gas locker cupboard is big enough to also accommodate a Thetford PortaPotty chemical toilet (included if you want it). Thermostatically controlled Eberspacher diesel heater with low-level blower. Just set the control panel and it’ll maintain the van at that temperature even when you’re not there. Great for surfing or sea-dipping as you can come back to a toasty warm van. Very efficient unit fed direct from main diesel tank. Uses hardly any diesel at all, in fact you’ll never even notice the fuel gauge drop.
Sterling Alternator to Battery Charger fixed to bulkhead behind driver’s seat – this device is surprisingly rare in camper vans but it is a brilliant bit of kit which ensures the leisure batteries actually get fully charged during driving. Usually, the alternator stops charging the leisure batteries once the car battery reaches full voltage (usually after a few minutes) but this device means the leisure batteries are properly topped-up by monitoring battery voltage and continuing to draw current until they’re fully charged.
Numax 121000 12V 10A mains smart battery charger also fixed behind driver’s seat. Usually when you’re on hookup, the campsite electric energises your 240v sockets but doesn’t connect to your leisure batteries, but this device keeps your leisure batteries conditioned and fully charged whenever you’re hooked-up. Combined with the Sterling charger, this means you will never be without power whether on a campsite or off-grid. It also simplifies leisure battery care as you don’t have to remove them during long periods without use – just connect up to the hookup socket from your home socket and the batteries are looked after. These two chargers work seamlessly together with no need to switch between them – each one just kicks in as required. There’s also a small solar battery charger attached to the kitchen window which helps to keep the batteries charged when not in use.
Two 12V 80Ah Banner Energy Bull leisure batteries under driver’s seat. Enough to keep the fridge/diesel heater/lights going for a good few days before you need to top up the charge by either running the engine for 15 mins or connecting to mains/hookup. Sargent leisure battery voltage gauge and fused switch control panel. Two 3-pin domestic socket outlets with a 4 USB-A outlets next to worktop. A further two 3-pin domestic socket outlets behind driver’s seat.
Rear caravan/trailer towball with 13-pin caravan electrics. Also features a mount for the included removable Witter ZX89 3 Bike rack with straps (all included). This means you can carry three bikes (although we used it for two adult and two kids’ bikes) whilst also towing a trailer.
The not so good: Rear bumper has a small dent with paint flaking. See pic. Happened in 2023 but hasn’t got any worse. Integrated window blind on window behind kitchen unit is stuck in open position – we’ve just used a small blackout curtain on suction cups instead (included). These blinds are really easy to fix but to get to this you’ve have to remove the small backboard behind the kitchen worktop. I didn’t want to do this as it would mean removing/replacing the silicone sealant – again that’s not a hard job, but it would take a couple of hours altogether. Radio doesn’t work. Not sure whether it’s just a blown fuse or faulty unit. We just use our “Blueytooth” speaker for music and a phone for satnav.
Every now and then the coil light on the dashboard will illuminate for about a second when driving at around 2,500 RPM uphill. We have had this checked out by the garage and it’s just a false alarm which doesn’t relate to an actual fault condition or malfunction. We’ve never had any engine/mechanical problems.
