LEVC VN5 Totally Unique Electric Camper Van

This uses the LEVC (London Electric Taxis) VN5 Van as its donor vehicle. Pretty much all of the components are Volvo as they are all owned by the same parent company. It is an Electric London Taxi in Van form.

Excellent all round condition. 51000 miles , FSH , 2 owners, all the normal features found on electric vehicles, cameras , cruise control etc etc.

Technical Details re Van

It utilises a fully electric drivetrain (not hybrid), so never runs on anything other than electric, with all the benefits (smooth, quiet,cheap, no gearbox, fast , essentially simple ) but uses a Volvo 3 cylinder 1000cc petrol engine to act purely as a generator. This means you can plug in at home and do 60 miles on electric but can go as far as you like as the van will switch over to petrol seamlessly, when required , or when you ask it if you want to keep back electric for your camping trip.

(I have been told that the London taxis have many examples of having done over 300000 miles on the original battery!)

We use it both as our daily vehicle (very cheap to run within 60miles) and our camper holiday home.(unlimited range) and is still economical on petrol, once your electric runs out.



Pop top roof

The pop top roof conversion (inc window and Mossy-net side vetilators) was done by Drivelodge at Keighley , who are the only company to have worked with LEVC on a genuine camper conversion spec for this van. This is very important , I can explain on the phone

Drive away awning

When on wild camping spots you can use the electric as your heating or air con, unlike normal vans , making it perfect for Europe. You do not have to run any engine for heat or more importantly Air con like a diesel or petrol camper.

Because it is a London Taxi in Van form it has what must be the smallest turning circle of any vehicle on the road, never ceases to amaze me. It can EASILY do a U turn on a normal narrow two way British road, making it a superb camper for narrow British roads.

Available with the van but not fit as we dont use them

1KW inverter, we have never needed it , for obvious reasons

Large Drop down Fiammi Bike rack which will fit, but because of health issues we dont need , so again never fit

We originally fit a turntable on the front passenger seat to allow it to turn round . It did this no problem but i was not happy with the fitting by the engineer so removed it and have never felt the need to put it back in, but comes with everything required to put back in , a 2 hour job for a mechanic. Happy to explain
