This book has been rebound in cloth, and the hardcover corners are reinforced in cloth, with the original spine retained.
It opens flat and has no loose pages.
The front and back covers show obvious signs of wear and fading, see picture, but are sound and solid as would be expected after rebinding.
Between the covers the pages are in very good condition.
The beautiful black and white images, made by professional photographers and printed on glossy paper, are a stunning collection, that not only represent photographic skills of the highest order, but are also a unique historical document of the pre- World War Two era.
The final 50 pages contain hundreds of advertisements for photographers, studios and photographic products of the time, and show how much these services were in demand in the 1930’s.
This volume demonstrates how photography grew from a science into an art, and would be of interest not only to anyone with a deep love of photography, but also to historians who require a comprehensive pictorial record of the world as it was 90 years ago.
