Canoe; beautiful handcrafted 3 seater cedar strip

The Migisi (native American for Eagle) is a wonderfully rare boat that I purchased around ten years ago from its English maker.
I spent a couple of hundred hours reconditioning it and then some great times happily exploring UK lakes, rivers and canals.

Dimensions:16 feet in length and 34 inches wide at the carrying thwart.

This boat is totally unique, extremely decorative and has had many an admiring glance from passers by when on the water.
The boat is approximately 30 years old.

It has three handwoven cane seats (all original), bulk heads with removable hatches and even a beer glass holder - again hand crafted and woven. The front seat is currently in a removable modified position, having been, in my opinion, too far forward for good balance and leg room. I still have the original front seat hanging struts and brass fixings, so you could easily restore the front seat to the makers original position, although if you are going to use the boat, I think you will agree that the new position is more practical and perfectly balanced if you look at the photo of us in the boat.

The carrying thwart is fashioned like eagles wings and the eagle heads in the bow are blocked right through the hull, as is all the rest of the hull decoration including the beautiful star in the hull centre, so the designs are part of the structure and not just applied onto the surface like marquetry for example.

Migisi is a fast boat that will easily outpace commercial plastic Canadians - an absolute joy to paddle!

You can collect in person or I will happily deliver it if you are in the area around Shrewsbury in Shropshire. You will need a padded roof rack and good quality securing straps if you collect.

Bear in mind that this is a wooden boat, not for shooting rapids! It needs plenty of water beneath it to keep its finish in good condition, so slow rivers, lakes and canals.

Indoor storage is essential for wooden canoes, such as an out building or garage.

Migisi is carriable on the shoulders by someone physically fit and very easily so by two people.
