Description

This Lot will be sold at auction at Windsorview Lakes; Datchet on Saturday 18th July.\n\nSingle family ownership from new\nDry stored for 20+ years\nManual gearbox\n\nIntroduced in 1976 as the successor to BMW's elegant E9 coups, the E24 6-Series combined sporting performance with long-distance refinement and quickly became one of the most desirable grand tourers of its era. Today, early examples are increasingly sought after, particularly those retaining their originality and accompanied by exceptional provenance.\n\nThis remarkable 1977 BMW 633 CSi has enjoyed single family ownership from new, having been purchased brand new by the vendor's father and cherished throughout his stewardship. Finished in attractive Resedagrn Metallic (Reseda Green Metallic) with a complementary olive-green interior, the car presents as an extraordinarily original example and offers a rare opportunity to acquire one of BMW's finest grand tourers in remarkably untouched condition. Unlike many examples that have undergone extensive restoration over the years, this 633 CSi has led a sheltered existence. Reserved for weekend and special occasion use only, it was never employed as daily transport and was always garaged when not in use. As a result, the odometer today displays a remarkable 23,073 miles from new, an extraordinary figure for a car approaching its fiftieth birthday.\n\nAccompanying the BMW are its original service book, owner's manuals and supporting documentation, recording routine maintenance throughout the vendor's father's ownership until his untimely passing in the early 1990s. Thereafter, the car saw increasingly infrequent use before entering long-term storage. Interestingly, only five miles have been covered since the most recent 2007 MoT test, suggesting the car was effectively driven home and then laid up once more.\n\nFactory-equipped with air conditioning and the desirable manual gearbox, the BMW remains impressively well preserved, displaying only minor surface corrosion, mainly beneath the right-hand rear lamp. Finding another early 633 CSi with such low mileage, originality and family provenance would be exceptionally difficult, almost impossible. An immensely worthwhile recommissioning project and excitingly offered without reserve, this is a rare opportunity for the discerning BMW enthusiast. Consigned by Fraser Smith\n
