1982 Audi 80 1.8 Automatic – Rare UK-Spec Classic – 1 of Only 4

A genuinely lovely example of an early 1980s Audi 80, and a particularly unusual one with its automatic transmission. As far as I’m aware, there are only five Audi 80s of this type with an automatic gearbox currently available in the UK, making this a very rare little classic.

It has been in my care for the last year and, despite being over 40 years old, I’ve been using it as a daily driver. It starts, runs and drives well, and the engine and automatic gearbox have been strong and reliable. It’s a simple, solid old Audi that feels completely different from the modern cars you see on the road today.

The car has also had quite a bit of money spent on the brakes, including new brake shoes, brake pads and front brake discs. I have the receipts for the work and can show these to the buyer.

The electrical side is mostly working as it should — indicators, lights and other electrics are working, and even the air conditioning works perfectly, which is a great bonus on a 1982 car. The only things worth mentioning are that the cigarette lighter/power socket needs its fuse/electrical connection sorting, and the original radio doesn’t work, so this would need replacing if you want to have music on the move.

I’m only selling it because I’ve recently moved into a flat and unfortunately no longer have access to a garage. I’ve kept the car garaged for the past year and would much rather see it go to someone who appreciates what it is than leave it sitting outside in the weather.

It’s not a modern car and obviously has over 40 years of character, but that’s exactly what makes it special. A rare automatic Audi 80, genuinely usable as a daily, with a great old-school feel and plenty of potential for an enthusiast to enjoy and preserve.
