Feron Architects

Description

Conceived by Fraser McQuade, Feron Architects creates grounded, sustainable and nurturing architecture through a creative process informed by the natural landscape, artistic practice, and a deep connection to place and space.

Through my years of experience in private architectural practice, former role as Senior Urban Design Officer at Brighton & Hove City Council, and ongoing professional and artistic development, I offer a distinct and holistic skill set, design sensibility, and level of expertise which are intuitively applied to every project.

I work personally and collaboratively with my clients to expand and realise their ideas. Together, we create thoughtful, emotional designs that suit their lifestyle and tastes, and which offer them the space to thrive.

At the heart of my design process is an innate and deep-rooted connection to place and space - uniquely informed by my keen passion for natural landscapes and artistic practice. I make art to explore our connection with landscape - what we draw from it into ourselves and into our places - and to develop freedom and intuition in my architectural response.

This informs characterful architecture which grows directly from site - grounding and putting down roots. Designs focus on intuitive layouts; nurturing atmospheres; natural light and air movement; positive outlook – whether garden, distant views or sky; contextual and calmly expressive materiality; and simple detailing for a high quality finish.

Sustainability is a significant and dynamic component of my designs, informing decisions from early concept to technical detail. My qualification in Permaculture Design has honed an understanding of sustainable land use; passive environmental design solutions; organic, non-toxic construction materials; and reduced embodied carbon.
