This object is a vintage Japanese Marutomoware honeycomb jar/honey comb box. It is an Art Deco period ceramic piece typically dating from the 1920s to 1930s, featuring a molded yellow honeycomb relief pattern decorated with an applied bee finial on the lid and detailed honeybees on the sides.While it looks nearly identical to some 1930s English Crown Devon models, Marutomoware specifically produced this highly detailed variant with distinct orange/brown coloration highlights on the bees and a completely square lid profile, often stamped "Marutomoware" or "Made in Japan" on the underside.
approximately 9.5 cm x 9.5cm x 5.5cm + 1.7cm for the bee. It is very crazed, I understand that is very common for this Japanese porcelain.
