Description
This has been in the family for many years, first bought by my Great Uncle Harold, then living in my grandma's and then my Mum's house. We can't make use of it anymore so its time to sell.
Very solid well made piece of furniture, from online searches for the same / very similar bookshelves I believe it is Edwardian, probably made in the 1910s. Simpoles were a Manchester furniture maker.
I don't know what wood its made from but it has a mahogany / walnut coloured finish. Each shelf has a glass panelled door that lifts and slides back and can be kept open if you want.
Although quite heavy it is easy to transport as it is made up of stacking sections that come apart - the 3 bookshelf units, the lid and the base. Each part can be easily carried by an average adult. Once stacked it is sturdy - once filled with books it is even sturdier!
In good condition for its age, marks can be seen on the top and the base as shown in the photos. And there may be some slight splitting at one of the joins on the lid, also shown in the photos.
Buyer to collect (you will need your own transport obviously) from Grassendale L19. Cash on collection only, thank you.
