c. 1780 Large 18thC Dutch Delft Faience Desk Inkwell Stand with Pen & Pounce Pot
Brief Description:
This is a large, superb 18th-century Dutch Delft Faience Desk Inkwell and Pen Stand of impressive proportions.
The fabulously formed and scrolled piece is embellished with hand-painted blue and white Dutch floral and bird scenes, together with a seascape on one side, and a farming landscape with a milkmaid on the other.
The piece displays fantastically wherever it is placed!
With an elegant shell motif, beautiful scroll mouldings and a matching and original lidded inkwell and pounce pot.
The underside is marked AL.
AL possibly refers to the factory of the 17th/18th Delft Potter Anthoni Luyckes.
Rare to find in such wonderful original condition!
Cosmetic imperfections to note: The small inkwell lid has been repaired, and there are a handful of very small chips/fritts to some of the glazing and scrolled edges, but all in perfect keeping with a piece of the period - see images.
