We got this from an antique dealer in Chatillon sur Seine, Burgundy, and have used it both as a fireplace display and plant stand.
It’s a sturdy, hand forged wrought iron trivet stand that apparently came from the clearance of a local Manoir known in French as a TRÉPIED.
Dating to the late 1800s, it would have originally been used for cooking over an open hearth fire and has three inward tines to support the cooking vessels or kettles.
Now worn and rusted but it is still sound and useable today.

In good sound antique condition with wear, rust and staining but no damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
NOTE: This had a lot of rust, both surface and pitting, but no serious corrosion or through perforation. I have given it a wire brush clean and a single coat of Stove Polish resulting in an attractive grey finish with some areas of rust still visible. I’m sure this would polish up further or paint up nicely if preferred - see photos.
The stand is heavy hand forged iron that is in good condition but has wear and rust - see photos.
Structurally sound and stands well on tripod feet.
The feet are worn and rusted but sound.
I can find no maker’s mark.
