Freelance Site Manager

Location: Elgin, Moray Contract: 12 months Rate: £30–£33 per hour

Freelance Site Manager – £16m Construction Project

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a major £16m construction project in Elgin on an initial 12-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager with a strong background in managing complex construction projects, coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to a high standard.

The Project

The project involves a major refurbishment and extension, incorporating a wide range of internal, external and specialist construction works. These include a two-storey extension, new studio and reception areas, two auditoriums, specialist ventilation systems, curtain walling, internal fit-out and external landscaping.

The Role

Reporting to the wider project management team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring works progress efficiently and in line with the construction programme.

Responsibilities will include:

Managing and coordinating subcontractors, trades and site personnel.

Planning and sequencing works to maintain programme deadlines.

Monitoring progress and identifying potential delays.

Coordinating specialist installations and multiple work packages.

Maintaining high standards of health and safety across the site.

Ensuring works meet the required quality standards and specifications.

Managing site logistics, deliveries and resources.

Liaising with the project management team, client and subcontractors.

Maintaining accurate site records and overseeing snagging and completion works.

About You

To be considered, you should have:

Proven experience as a Site Manager on large-scale or complex construction projects.

Experience managing multiple trades and specialist subcontractors.

Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, programme management and site logistics.

Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.

SMSTS certification.

Relevant CSCS card.

First Aid qualification.

A full UK driving licence.

Experience delivering commercial, public-sector or high-specification refurbishment and extension projects would be advantageous.
