The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established, privately owned engineering and manufacturing business to appoint a Group Financial Controller into a key leadership role.

Reporting into the senior finance leadership team, the successful candidate will take ownership of financial control across the group, ensuring the integrity of reporting, strengthening governance, and supporting strategic growth.

The Role

This is a broad and hands-on leadership role, responsible for overseeing the core finance function while delivering high-quality financial information and insight to the wider business.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

Leading and developing a small finance team, driving performance and continuous improvementManaging the production of accurate and timely monthly and year-end financial reportingEnsuring robust financial controls, processes, and governance frameworks are in place and consistently appliedOverseeing group-level reporting across multiple entities, maintaining consistency and accuracyManaging cash flow, working capital and balance sheet integrityActing as the primary contact for external auditors and leading the year-end audit processEnsuring compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirementsSupporting budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning cyclesProviding clear financial analysis and insight to support operational and strategic decision-makingPartnering with senior stakeholders across the business to improve financial understanding and commercial outcomesDriving improvements in finance systems, reporting capability and process efficiencySupporting business change initiatives, including system upgrades or structural developmentsThe Candidate

We are looking for a proactive and commercially aware finance leader who can operate both strategically and at a detailed level.

You will have:A recognised accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)Experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership position within a manufacturing, engineering or product-based environmentStrong technical accounting knowledge and experience of group reporting structuresA track record of improving financial controls and processes within a growing businessExperience managing and developing finance teamsThe ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholdersA hands-on approach with the confidence to operate in a dynamic, evolving environmentExposure to international operations or multi-entity structures would be advantageousWhy Apply?Opportunity to join a growing and internationally focused UK businessBroad and influential role with real exposure to senior decision-makingA mix of strategic input and operational responsibilityScope to shape finance processes and contribute to future growth, in a role that can offer real career progression.
