Fully Remote Project Accountant - Short Term Contract

Robertson Bell are supporting an organisation seeking a Fully Remote Interim Project Accountant for a short-term assignment focused on improving financial accuracy and enhancing project reporting. With a portfolio of over 200 live projects and multiple funding streams, this role will play a critical part in validating allocations, updating forecasts and ensuring high-quality financial information for internal stakeholders.

Working closely with senior finance stakeholders, the Interim Project Accountant will take responsibility for a defined portfolio of projects, reviewing expenditure, reforecasting up to multi-year time horizons and preparing adjustments where required. This is a hands-on and fast-paced assignment suited to someone with strong technical skills and confidence working under pressure.

Key responsibilities will include:

Reviewing project expenditure against budget and investigating variances.Preparing journals to reallocate costs, ensuring accurate coding and audit trail.Updating multi-year forecasts and reviewing revised positions with budget holders.Supporting stakeholders in understanding project financial performance and future commitments.Contributing to funding and reporting requirements as needed.Working collaboratively with the finance leadership team to improve data accuracy and support decision-making. The successful candidate will:

Be a qualified accountant or possess equivalent technical accounting expertise.Have experience in project accounting and supporting externally funded activities.Be highly proficient in Excel, including SUMIFS and INDEX MATCH or similar functions.Be detail-focused, fast-working and self-directed, with the ability to learn systems quickly.Be comfortable managing a high volume of projects in a short timeframe.Enjoy problem-solving and working in environments where accuracy and pace are both essential. This is an excellent interim opportunity for a technically strong, hands-on accountant who enjoys improving data integrity and supporting project finance.
