Citadel Source are delighted to be supporting a fast-growing, private equity-backed business in recruiting a Financial Accountant. This is a key role within a high-performing finance team, helping to scale and professionalise the finance function.

The role

The Financial Accountant will play a critical role in delivering accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and audit-ready outputs in a private equity-backed environment. You will work closely with senior finance leadership and operational teams, taking ownership of core accounting processes while supporting commercial decision-making. This role suits a technically strong accountant who thrives under high expectations, enjoys detail-focused work, and values being part of a high-performing finance team.

As a Financial Accountant, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Own the month-end close process and deliver accurate management accounts to tight deadlinesPrepare month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliationsProduce statutory accounts and manage the year-end audit processEnsure compliance with accounting standards, tax, and regulatory requirementsPrepare information for corporation tax returns and manage payments on accountPrepare and review VAT returns; liaise with external advisorsSupport budgeting, forecasting, and private equity reporting requirementsPartner with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insight and challengeIdentify and implement process and control improvementsSupport finance system enhancements and continuous improvement initiativesManage the transactional finance team

What the client is looking for

ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or finalist with strong experience)Proven experience in a practice or similar roleStrong technical accounting and statutory reporting knowledgeComfortable analysing data, with strong Excel skillsAble to work to pace and manage competing deadlinesCommercially aware, proactive, and detail-focusedStrong communicator, confident, engaging with all levels of the businessExperience within a private equity-backed, high-growth, or highly commercial environment preferred
