Description

We are looking for a Credit Controller to work with this long term and well established company based in Wellington, Somerset. This is a rare opportunity to join this company on a permanent basis. The Credit Controller will have an exciting opportunity to own the end to end credit lifecycle and work with a global, multi-currency ledger.

Hours: Monday to Friday on site 5 days a week, from 9:00 - 5:00pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break)

Key Responsibilities

Work with the Finance Manager to set and continuously improve credit policies, protocols and guidelines aligned to group standards.

Perform credit assessments and manage credit limits for new and existing customers.

Act as the main contact for credit insurers; handle notifications and ensure policy compliance.

Own collections performance—monitor ageing, reduce DSO days, and hit cash targets.

Proactively engage debtors (email/phone), negotiate payment plans, and resolve disputes.

Collaborate with Sales and Finance to escalate high-risk accounts; recommend write-offs or litigation where needed.

Manage a multi-currency debtor portfolio; ensure accurate postings, allocations and month-end close.

Keep ERP records pristine—account data, credit limits, and hold/release statuses.

Analyse trends and prepare clear reports and insights for senior leadership.

Deliver ad-hoc analysis and pitch in on wider finance tasks as we grow.Skill and experience required

Experience in credit control

AAT Level 3 (or equivalent) or strong evidence of high professional achievement.

Confidence working across time zones and cultures; persuasive negotiator with great people skills.

Strong Excel/Office 365; familiarity with credit risk tools and ERP systems.

Proven record of hitting collection KPIs and improving DSO.

Meticulous attention to detail, robust analytical skills, and excellent written & verbal communication.

Comfortable influencing at all levels in a lean, hands-on environment.

Experience with export sales, distribution and multi-currency ledgers is advantageous.

Background working with trade credit insurance policies is also advantageous.We look forward to getting your application.
