Assistant Accountant / Company Accountant

Location: Newburgh, Aberdeenshire (modern office, potential for hybrid working)

Industry: Investment Group with trading divisions in Commercial Property, Agriculture, Forestry, and Pharmaceuticals

About the Role

Activus Recruitment are working on behalf of a dynamic Investment Group seeking a Company Accountant to join their growing team. This is a unique opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of trading divisions, including a new venture within the group, and to take ownership of financial reporting, processes, and controls.

This is a flexible, evolving role with significant potential for career progression. While full-time is preferred, reduced hours and hybrid working can be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Processing and maintaining finance information for the group’s main companies, including invoices, banking, and reconciliations.

*

Assisting with month-end reporting and financial analysis.

*

Supporting year-end statutory accounts and corporation tax returns.

*

Processing VAT returns.

*

Calculating and reconciling monthly stock and WIP for the Pharmaceutical division.

*

Acting as a finance partner to the COO and senior team to support business growth initiatives.

*

Driving improvements in finance processes and controls.

*

Ad hoc credit control when required (minimal).

About You

*

Accounting experience in a similar role, ideally with exposure to stock/WIP accounting in production or manufacturing (desirable but not essential).

*

Qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent) with experience in Ltd company accounts.

*

Confident using multiple accounting systems, with the potential to assist in implementing a new system if required.

*

Proactive, self-motivated, and able to take ownership of reporting and processes.

*

Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in a growing, evolving business environment.
