Accounts Assistant

Overview

A well-established manufacturing business is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on site. This is a varied role supporting both finance and operations, ensuring smooth processing of accounts while keeping the factory and office teams connected. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, and staff expenses accurately and on time

* Reconciling supplier statements and preparing payment runs for materials and services

* Supporting the month-end process, including stock adjustments, accruals, and journals

* Assisting with credit control, chasing outstanding payments from customers where needed

* Monitoring production-related costs and raising purchase orders for site requirements

* Maintaining accurate records within the ERP/MRP and accounting system

* Preparing basic reports for management, including spend analysis and cost tracking

* Liaising with operations, procurement, and stores teams to resolve queries quickly

* Providing general finance and administrative support to the wider site team

Skills & Experience

* Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering business

* Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar)

* Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills

* Confident communicator, able to liaise with both shop-floor staff and external suppliers/customers

* Ability to work independently as well as part of a busy team

* AAT qualification (or working towards) would be an advantage but not essential
