Description
Hi, my name is Aviral and I'm a 3rd year medical student at the University of Cambridge. I have tutoring experience dating back 3 years (over 200 hours) and I tutor the following subjects online:
A Level biology and chemistry
GCSE mathematics and sciences
Medicine admissions for UK universities (UCAT preparation, Oxbridge PS, interview)
First, here are my relevant qualifications (aside from an upcoming BA from Cambridge in pathology and bioinformatics):
5 A* at A level - Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, EPQ
11A*, a 9, and a distinction at GCSE
A score of 3200 (>99th percentile) and SJT Band 1 in the UCAT
My approach to tutoring involves powerpoints, annotated notes and regular testing to check retention. However, I place a focus on independent learning, including note taking and memorisation. Homework often includes taking notes as well as practice questions. This means we can effectively spend time on what students find difficult and develop their own learning skills. Furthermore, it is important to target the syllabus as each board has a different style. An integrated approach is important!
I like to learn a little about the students before taking them on, so I offer a free introductory lesson, which will be ~45 minutes. This includes questions about where students are in their studies and a trial of what learning from me will actually look like.
Please get in contact for my tutoring details, to arrange a trial, for my CV, and evidence for DBS/other qualifications.
