I am a highly experienced English teacher with a focus on helping students increase their skills, raise their grades and fulfil their potential. I taught English in schools for over 20 years in London and the South-East before becoming a tutor, and I have worked as a GCSE examiner.

I specialise in:

• helping Year 10 and Year 11 students prepare for their GCSE English Language exams
• coaching KS3 students for entrance exams

What am I like as a tutor? I adapt to how students learn best, paying close attention to their learning needs and styles, and I am patient, encouraging and thorough. I enjoy making learning fun and helping boost children’s confidence and motivation.

My students have included:

1) Students re-sitting their English Language GCSE. Students have developed their vocabulary by reading complex and challenging material. By employing specialist techniques for writing under exam conditions, they have performed very well in assessments.
2) GCSE students in Years 10 and 11 preparing for exams. Students have been encouraged to read complex and challenging books to develop their vocabulary, and they have enjoyed writing descriptively and putting their views across. By employing top techniques and strategies for reading and writing, they have raised their standard of achievement at GCSE, gaining a pass and above.
3) Year 7 pupils preparing for entrance exams and working to raise their level of achievement. Pupils have learned to read more widely and have enjoyed writing stories and essays. With practice in writing and by using tried-and-tested exam techniques, they have performed very well in examinations.

Hourly rates for 1:1 lessons:

KS1-KS3: £40. Discounts for block bookings: £35 for your first block of 3 lessons paid in advance (total: £105); £35 for 6 lessons (total: £210).

GCSE: £45. Discount for block bookings: £40 for your first block of 3 lessons paid in advance (total: £120); £40 for 6 lessons (total: £240).

A-LEVEL: £65. Discount for block bookings: £60 for 6 lessons paid in advance (total: £360).
